Growing up with my two artist parents, design has always been part of my DNA. I learned at a very young age that I had little in common with or even thought like other kids. I began spending time at my dad’s photography studio almost at birth and at a very young age I picked up my first camera and fell in love with taking photos. For me, taking photos could communicate something a little kid with dyslexia could not. I spent high school trying hard to be someone I was not. My senior year I rebelled against the tide of normalcy and ended up being the only one in my class of 2016 to leave the state of Michigan. I began my journey at Ohio University studying photojournalism at the Scripps School. After a semester there, I realized that I was more interested in the design side of photography than the taking images in a conformed style. My last semester at OU, I took a class about layouts and learned all about Indesign. I absolutely loved it; it was fun and time flew by when I was working. I felt so satisfied when the projects were finished, something my photography didn’t always do for me. That May I visited Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah and fell in love with the area as well as the school. The idea of being around a whole school full of like minded individuals excited me. Maybe for the first time in my life I would fit in. As a designer, my goal is to create visual fluidity and give the audience something to think about. I love to elevate common ideas, make them more sophisticated and give people a new way to see them. I like to inspire thought while making the art visually pleasing. I love when I can use my photography skills to elevate my graphic design work. I am not only a visual communicator but also a fine artist who loves the ideation and creation behind each piece I do. Those very principals have continued throughout my years of agency experience.
